Choose your gemstone

Each stone is priced differently — color, clarity standards, treatment and origin all work on their own scale. Start with the one you have.

Ruby

Priced almost entirely on color, with Burmese origin and treatment history moving the number more than for almost any other gem.

Sapphire

Not just blue — pink, yellow, violet, green and padparadscha all have their own scale. One of the hardest, most durable gemstones.

Emerald

Visible inclusions (jardin) are normal, not a flaw. Clarity enhancement is standard practice — the degree is what matters.

This also covers rubies, sapphires and emeralds in any form — engagement rings, tennis bracelets, eternity bands, brooches, estate and inherited pieces, loose stones and mixed lots — plus less common colored stones such as tourmaline, aquamarine, tanzanite and spinel, evaluated case by case. Everything ships to us the same way: nationwide, by mail, on a free insured label.

What determines the offer

Several factors move price independently of carat weight alone.

Your shipment is insured, door to door, both ways

Mailing jewelry across the country only works if the shipment is genuinely covered — so every step of it is.

How to pack your jewelry

A few simple habits keep pieces from shifting, scratching or tangling in transit.

This is a general guide — for the full step-by-step method, see how to pack jewelry for insured shipping →.

What happens after we receive your jewelry

01

It arrives

Your insured shipment reaches us, tracked and signed for.

02

Inspected & appraised

A trained gemologist examines each piece — color, clarity, cut, origin and treatment.

03

Written offer sent

You receive a written offer by email, with stone value and metal value shown separately.

04

You accept or decline

No pressure and no deadline — take the time you need to decide.

05

Paid the same day

Accept, and payment goes out that same day by bank transfer.

06

Or shipped back free

Decline, and your exact pieces are returned free and fully insured — nothing altered.

Nothing is disassembled, melted, or altered in any way unless and until you approve the offer. If you decline, the exact pieces you sent come back to you, in the same condition they left in.

Frequently asked questions

About pricing your gemstones

Where can I sell inherited jewelry without getting ripped off?

Get more than one opinion, and prefer a buyer who explains how they arrived at the number — separating metal value from stone value — rather than one who gives a single lump offer with no breakdown. A free, no-obligation appraisal lets you compare offers without any pressure to accept on the spot.

Does a jewelry buyer pay for rubies and sapphires or only the gold?

It depends on the buyer. Some price by melt value alone and treat any stone as incidental. Others evaluate the stone separately — by color, clarity, carat weight and origin — and add that value on top of the metal. Bizak & Co. shows both parts of the offer in writing, so you can see exactly what the stone added. Ask directly how a buyer prices colored stones before you send in a piece.

Can I sell jewelry without a certificate?

Yes. A lab report (GIA, AGL, HRD or similar) can speed up an appraisal because it removes uncertainty about treatment and origin, but it isn't required to get an offer. Send a photo first — by WhatsApp or the form on this page — and we'll tell you what we can already see and what we'd still need before making an offer.

Should antique jewelry be sold or melted?

Not automatically melted. Antique and estate pieces can carry value beyond their metal weight — from the maker, the era, the craftsmanship or the gemstone itself — that melting destroys permanently. A proper appraisal checks for that added value first; melting is only the right call when a piece genuinely has none beyond its metal content.

About mailing your jewelry safely

Is it safe to mail valuable jewelry?

Yes. We email a prepaid, fully insured FedEx label — insurance is provided through IFS (In4Sure) for the full value of your pieces — tracked door to door with signature required at every handoff, both ways. You never arrange or pay for your own shipping or insurance.

What if my package is lost or damaged in transit?

You are covered, and it costs you nothing. Every shipment travels on our prepaid FedEx label backed by dedicated jewelry insurance (IFS / In4Sure) that covers the full value of your pieces — door to door, both directions, tracked, with signature required at every handoff. That is the same cover on the way back if you decline the offer.

Do I need to be local to Miami to sell to you?

No. Bizak & Co. is an established Miami jewelry house, founded in 1996, but the business is built for mail-in selling — we buy ruby, sapphire and emerald jewelry from sellers across the United States. You request a free insured shipping label, mail your piece from wherever you are, and never have to visit Miami.

How do I know I'll actually get paid?

You see the written offer before you decide anything, and payment goes out the same day you accept, by bank transfer. If you decline, there is no cost to you either — your jewelry ships back free and fully insured. Nothing is altered, disassembled or sold until you approve the offer in writing.
